Today courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, the first image from the much-hyped upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ original series was released. The image features Clint Barton once again played by Jeremy Renner and Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. Granted, set photos captured months ago already gave us a first glimpse of the duo in action (not to mention a look at Pizza Dog Lucky and the tracksuit Draculas). But perhaps most enticing to fans is that EW has revealed that the series will be debuting Wednesday, November 24.

While audiences have become familiar with Hawkguy Hawkeye Clint Barton, this will be Kate Bishop’s first live-action portrayal. Debuting in the Young Avengers comic by Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung more than 15 years ago, Kate Bishop has since become a fan-favorite character in her own right, even headlining her own Hawkeye solo series from writer Kelly Thompson.

Based on the aforementioned set photos, it’s clear that the series will be taking significant cues from the acclaimed Hawkeye comic run from writer Matt Fraction. One of them, though, is not the nature of the relationship between Clint and Kate. Renner describe the Clint/Kate dynamic as the following:

“[Kate is] a 22-year-old kid and she’s a big Hawkeye fan,” Renner tells EW. “She has a wonderfully annoying and equally charming manner about her, because she’s such a fangirl of Hawkeye. The relationship grows from that, but the biggest problem for Clint is Kate Bishop and the onslaught of problems that she brings into his life.”

“That was always my role. Outside of acting in the thing, I was protecting her and giving her the CliffsNotes on how it goes with this kind of filmmaking: Green screen, superhero life, all that stuff,” Renner says. “I just wanted to protect her, because there’s a lot of physical stuff. She’s a wonderful actress, a wonderful human, and I can’t wait to see all the cool stuff that she’s able to do.”

As those who saw the post-credits scene in Black Widow are aware, Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine (Julia Louise-Dreyfus) revealed to Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) that her next target would be the man responsible for her sister Natasha Romanoff’s death, none other than Clint Barton himself! With Pugh already having been announced as appearing in the series, it seems safe to assume that plot line will come into play in the Hawkeye Disney+ series.

Hawkeye premieres on Wednesday, November 24th on Disney+.
