The Toronto Comic Arts Festival has let applicants know that they got a table at the show. A lot of folks tweeted their excitement and I managed to discover some new artists already. One of those is Vicky Leta, an illustrator and cartoonist located in Brooklyn. Her work has been featured in many anthologies, Sweaty Palms, Corpus, Dirty Diamonds and has done many other projects as well. One of those is Generic Lottery, a web comic that “centers around themes of depression, anxiety, body images issues, chronic illnesses, feeling remarkably average and average-looking”. I’ve started reading it from the beginning and it’s a pure delight. It’s immensely relatable, funny and charming. She manages to focus anxiety into both comedic and dramatic scenarios that are sincere as they are entertaining.
You can read the whole series from the beginning here, or start with her latest comic and go from there.
Vicky is also available for freelance work and has more details on her website
Looks good! I’ll check this out.
