Dungeon Critters
Dungeon Critters

A group of adventurers set out to save the world. That sounds like a pretty typical set-up. But what about when the adventurers are anthropomorphic animals? And the threat they’re saving the world from is a conspiracy involving killer plants?

That’s the premise of Dungeon Critters, a new middle-grade graphic novel from First Second Books. Created by Natalie Riess and Sara Goetter, the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired tale stars a party made up of a dog, a cat, a frog, and a lizard as they face off against a horned wizard, a thieving fox, and trees that are out to get them. If that doesn’t sound like a good time, I don’t know what does.

Check out a twelve-page excerpt, exclusive to The Beat, of Dungeon Critters below. With a cover price of $14.99, the 256-page graphic novel is due out in stores at the end of September.
