To kick off this year’s historic College Football 150 season on ESPN, the network has teamed up with fellow Disney subsidiary Marvel Comics to release three commemorative comic book covers for the Miami vs. Florida match. Two will show historic games between the two rivals and a third will be for this year’s matchup.

Per a press release from ESPN, the covers launch the sixth season of the ESPN College Football and Marvel partnership. The covers pay homage to The Incredible Hulk and The Mighty Thor.

Here are the details of each game represented in the Miami vs. Florida covers, in chronological order:

  • 1983: Florida defeated Miami 28-3 to open the season, jump-starting a 9-2-1 season.  For the Hurricanes, it was their only loss in a year which concluded with their first national championship.
  • 2000: Miami topped Florida 37-20 in the 2001 Sugar Bowl, capping an 11-1 campaign.
  • 2019: TBD

This year’s Miami vs. Florida matchup is the 56th between the two teams, but only the third since 2004. ESPN College Football 150 kicks off August 24, 2019 as these rivals face off for a rare and historic game. The full schedule College Football schedule is available here.
