You didn’t think Marvel Studios wasn’t to showcase something during today’s Super Bowl? Less than two months after debuting the teaser trailer for the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness during the post-credits of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Marvel Studios has released a new Multiverse of Madness trailer.
Quite a few new tidbits that can be gleaned from the trailer. As the upcoming Hasbro toys revealed Rintrah the green magical Minotaur who debuted in the comics in the ’80s as a loyal friend to Doctor Strange, will be appearing the film and can be glimpsed in the new trailer.
Without a doubt though, fan theories are going crazy around a mysterious council that briefly appears in the Multiverse of Madness trailer. It definitely has some shades of the Time Variance Authority from the Loki Disney+ series but it’s doubtful it has anything to do with the TVA. What’s more a voice can be that sounds distinctly like that of Sir Patrick Stewart. It does without saying that Stewart is no stranger to Marvel having portrayed Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men franchise before Disney’s acquisition of Fox. Could this be Disney’s attempt not only to incorporate mutants in the MCU but also some form of the Illuminati?
There’s also the fact that we see some kind of Iron Legion robots apprehending Strange.
Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character, the film also features a number of MCU actors reprising their roles including Benedict Wong as Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. America Chavez will be making her big screen debut played by Xochitl Gomez.
In addition, a new poster for the film was released.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arrives in theaters on May 6, 2022.
