Judging by its historic box office haul in the midst of the pandemic, I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume most readers of The Beat have seen Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters by now. Those that braved the theaters and stuck all the way to the end of the credits were treated to the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness teaser trailer.

For those still not quite comfortable to attend a theater just yet, worry not because Marvel has you covered! The Multiverse of Madness teaser has officially been released online.

After his adventure with the webslinger in the aforementioned No Way Home, Benedict Cumberbatch is back as the Sorcerer Supreme and he’s not alone. Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor reprise their roles as Wong and Mordo respectively. Rachel McAdams also returns as Christine Palmer and appears to be tying the knot with someone other than Stephen. The film will also see the big screen debut of fan favorite character America Chavez played by Xochitl Gomez.

Without a doubt though, the character are most eager to see is Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) who embraced her destiny as the Scarlet Witch in the epic WandaVision finale. And since this is a Sam Raimi directed film, fans can look forward to a Bruce Campbell cameo. Start placing your bets on his MCU character now!

Perhaps the most surprising reveal is when Strange discovers “the greatest threat to our universe” is in fact himself. Could this in fact be the the alternate reality version dubbed the Strange Supreme first seen in the What If…? animated series?

The trailer also features a tentacled creature that most fans assumed to be Shuma-Gorath, but a leaked LEGO set supposedly revealed to actually be Gargantos.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arrives in theaters on May 6, 2022.
