Dynamite’s Disney hit Gargoyles has a big debut this June–anticipated return of Demona!
Creator and writer Greg Weisman teased, “Demona brings danger and intrigue to every story she’s in. She’s been off the Manhattan Clan’s radar for months and months, but nothing will quite prepare them for what she has planned…”
The publisher also notes that fans can jump right into the series with this issue, even if they haven’t read the previous six (but you can always ask your favorite comic shop for help in catching up.)
For the Disney comics event of the summer, franchise creator Weisman (Young Justice, Spectacular Spider-Man) and acclaimed artist George Kambadais are providing an approachable chapter that also ramps up the stakes while providing current fans with an exciting new story.
Read on for more:
Once upon a time over a thousand years ago, Demona was a member of the Gargoyle clan at Castle Wyvern in Scotland. She was even Goliath’s beloved mate, and second in command among the clan. The two even have a daughter, Angela. Following strife within the clan, Demona separated and has through the years harbored an increasing hatred toward the humans the modern Manhattan Clan seeks to coexist with.
At last, she’s back, and she’s after three new keys to elevate her power. Not only that, but the clan’s current nemesis, Dino Dracon, is already on the rampage – while Goliath is in prison and awaiting trial! Without their leader, will Brooklyn and the Manhattan Clan have any chance to stop Demona?
To celebrate this major turning point in the series and jumping-on point, Dynamite is featuring powerful depictions of Demona on almost every cover from the stylistically wide-ranging cast of heavy hitters who have wowed fans and collectors to date. Those include David Nakayama (X-Men), Amanda Conner (Harley Quinn), Lucio Parrillo, Lesley “Leirix” Li, Jae Lee, as well as duo Tony Fleecs and Trish Forstner.
Gargoyles #7 is slated for release in June and can be preordered this month. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more.
