Remember how we told you DC was taking a renewed interest in the old prestige/Dark Knight format and flirting with the Euro-album format at the same time? Here’s the latest offering: Young Monsters in Love, an 80-page prestige format special out just in time for Valentine’s Day. 80 pages isn’t quite graphic novel length, but that’s what a 4-issue miniseries would amount to with current single issue page counts.
So what are we looking at here? A nice creator lineup for some DCU monster romance. While you might think this would be Vertigo offering, the cover sports Swamp Thing and Frankenstein, so it’s firmly under the DCU label.
We know what you’re thinking! Monsters kind of freak me out. How on earth do you expect me to swoon at their romantic exploits? By assembling one of the most impressive creative teams this side of Transylvania! Look for stories by no less than Paul Dini, Jeff Lemire, James Robinson, Mark Russell, Alisa Kwitney and more. And if you think that’s impressive, wait till you get a glimpse of the art by the likes of Kelley Jones, Guillem March and Frazer Irving.
