Dark Horse Comics is getting their spook on this October. On Wednesday, the publisher revealed the debut comic from writer/actor David Dastmalchian (The Dark KnightAnt-Man) with art by Lukas Ketner (Witch DoctorCreepy): Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter. The four-issue mini-series debuts Oct. 23, just in time for Halloween.

Count Crowley follows former TV journalist Jerri Bartman, who returns to her small, midwest hometown to host the local TV station’s nightly Creature Feature in 1983. Professionally humiliated, Jerri then discovers that her new job comes with a secret, supernatural duty. Count Crowley, her missing predecessor, was one of the last “Appointed” hunters of monsters — creatures hell-bent on controlling news and information that humans consume. Jerri’s only possible advisor is a senile male chauvinist — but without her help, humanity just might be doomed.

“Partnering with Dark Horse Comics has been one of the greatest experiences of my career,” Dastmalchian said in a statement. “Since my childhood passion for comics and the Creature Feature in Kansas City, I have dreamt of conjuring the world of Count Crowley. Personal themes of addiction shape my writing and I’m so grateful to present a terrifying tale about confronting dogmatism that’s lovingly reverent to classic horror and the power of myth. This may be ’80s nostalgia, but the importance of re-examining what we think we know is as timeless as ever.”
