With the recent return of the Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series to Netflix, many fans are either revisiting the series or discovering it for the first time. The series has definitely been on people’s minds, so it’s fitting that this week Dark Horse has revealed, exclusively to The Beat, the new cover for a forthcoming softcover omnibus collection of the Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Search graphic novel series.

The three book series, written by Gene Luen Yang and A:TLA co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino Bryan Konietzko, and illustrated by Gurihiru, was the second Dark Horse graphic novel series continuing the story of the animated series, following The Promise.

Here’s how Dark Horse describes A:TLA – The Search, along with the newly-revealed cover by Gurihiru for the volume:

Avatar The Last Airbender The Search

For years, fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra have burned with one question – what happened to Fire Lord Zuko’s mother? Finding a clue at last, Zuko enlists the aid of Team Avatar – and the most unlikely ally of all – to help uncover the biggest secret of his life.

This isn’t the first collection of the complete A:TLA – The Search under one set of covers. The series was released in a hardcover library edition back in 2014.

Dark Horse’s Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra graphic novels have been a success for the publisher, and the return of the series to Netflix will likely reignite interest in the comics as well. Look for the softcover omnibus edition of Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Search in stores later this year.
