Later this month AfterShock Comics will release Chicken Devil #3. The penultimate issue of the fast food crime series is written by Brian Buccellato, illustrated by Hayden Sherman, and lettered by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. Today The Beat is pleased to present an exclusive preview of the issue, which finds Mitchell once again in over head against the Russian mob.

Here’s how AfterShock describes Chicken Devil #3:

The walls close in around the world’s newest (and perhaps only) chicken-inspired vigilante as the Russian mob turns up the heat. But that’s cool because Mitchell Moss (thinks he) has nothing to lose. He may be a flightless bird in a devil suit, but he still has a surprise up his wing. Beware the ball pit of DEATH!

Back when the series was initially announced, writer Brian Buccellato described what inspired the dark humor of Chicken Devil:

“I LOVE stories that mix the super violent and the funny. This probably goes back to the first time I saw RESERVOIR DOGS, TRUE ROMANCE and every Tarantino movie that followed. I’m such a big fan of his work and marvel at his ability to mash up wildly different elements into cohesive narratives that are undeniably his. The juxtaposition of his clever banter and wonderfully dark humor allows us to accept heroin needles, ears getting cut off, or people graphically lit up by flame throwers.

I’m not comparing myself to Quentin— he’s truly a master of what he does… but I think the humor in my story attempts to do the same thing by taking graphic violence and the revenge movie tropes and putting through a darkly comedic lenses that is 100% my sense of humor.”
