Next month AfterShock Comics will release Chicken Devil #2. The latest issue of the dark comedy crime series is written by Brian Buccellato, with art and cover art by Hayden Sherman and letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. Today The Beat is pleased to present an exclusive preview of upcoming issue.
Here’s how AfterShock describes Chicken Devil #2:
The most unlikely chicken-fried revenge story continues. Mitchell, our overmatched hero, must contend with the bloody aftermath of his first run-in with the Russian mob…as he deals with nosey detectives, his shady business partner, Antonio and the stolen heroin.
Back when the series was first announced, writer Brian Buccellato offered three reasons why Chicken Devil is worth checking out:
1. It’s fun and funny and weird in the best possible way. I mean. Haven’t you always wondered what a revenge story would look like if the hero wasn’t John Wick— he was just a motivated regular guy who makes really good chicken?
2. Hayden’s art is masterful and hits the tone perfectly. And his vibrant colors make for a beautiful rendition of Los Angeles that really makes the world of chicken devil its own thing.
3. Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou’s lettering is a thing of beauty. I’m honestly in awe of how inventive his letters are. The playful caption design and his ability to manage the flow and mood of the reading experience is some of the best I’ve ever seen. It’s such added value! Truly the top of the lettering game!
