Hotelier: Why can’t San Diego Comic-Con move to November?

10
Oh no not again. With the San Diego Convention Center's expansion plans spiked, and Comic-Con's contract up in 2016, people are once again asking will Comic-Con stay in San Diego? but the question does seem to have a more perfunctory tone than last time. As Lori Weisberg reports, Mayor Kevin Faulconer is all about keeping Con in San Diego and trying to get local hotels to keep their prices at the 2016 level for 2017 and 2018—and many are going along, but only because pretty much everyone realizes that keeping Comic-Con in San Diego is in everyone's best interest. Anaheim is trying to jump into the mix again, but after a few WonderCons in Anaheim, I think everyone realizes that Anaheim is not San Diego, and the show would become a very different event if it moved. And besides, WonderCon is developing into a more significant event on its own.

James Hudnall still getting back on his foot

0
A few days ago we noted that comics veteran James Hudnall was going through a very rough patch, with the amputation of his foot due to a diabetic ulcer. We've been following along on his FB page and although his recovery has been good, he's now in a pretty tough spot. The operation took place in Austin, TX where he'd just moved to take a job—which may or may not still exist. He's also been forced to move out of the place he was staying because it is not suitable for a man in a wheelchair. As of this morning he has no place to live, and staying in a motel while he gets his stuff in order is expensive.

Video: Dating tips with Fraction and Zdarsky

0
We've finally reached the place where cartoonists are giving dating advice in short videos. That it is the SEX CRIMINALS team of Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky should come as no surprise, as they were seemingly genetically bred for this task. The duo appear in a video on EW to talk about their new "advice" book Just the Tips and tell some dating stories. Zdarsky definitely wins this one, and it's true if there's no one to talk to, breaking up is hard.
