S.P.A.C.E. (Small Press & Alternative Comics Expo) is yet another comics-related event in Columbus. This will be the 15th year for the show, making it one of the granddaddys of the indie "CAF" circuit and it claims to be "the midwest's longest running exhibition of small press, creator owned  and art comics." This year it will be held April 14 and 15th at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Columbus and sponsored by Back Porch Comics.

§ Zen Pencils is a website where a cartoonist named Gavin Aung Than takes famous speeches written by other folks and turns them into comics. It was the subject of a famous beatdown by Abhay Khosla who tagged it as vapid pap that stole other people's thoughts, and some other folks think it's just fine and signed it to a book deal. Joining Walking Dead and Saga this month as the best-selling indie titles are a new Serenity book and Rick Remender’s new title, Deadly Class. As with last month, there are a swathe of recent books that are doing well around the top 150, but below that things aren’t looking too healthy. There are very few long running titles (besides Walking Dead of course) that are selling in healthy numbers, and the mini-series as ongoing series model that the likes of BPRD use doesn’t seem to be having any noticeable benefit anymore. Worth keeping an eye on, that.

For those longing for the days of Barbie's crapping toy dog Tanner, we have very good news: there is a new generation of toy animals that take little toy dumps on command. Although this being 2014, the girls who own the pets are fashionable "Moxie Girls" and the lovable pets with "the silly poo" are a bunny a koala and a unicorn. CBR has a pretty confident report that four of DC's top brass will be moving to Cali when the big exodus happens in 2015: co-publisher Dan DiDio, editor-in-chief Bob Harras, Vertigo executive editor Shelly Bond and group editor Eddie Berganza.  Even among those "in the know" confirmations of comings and goings have been hard to come by, although Berganza and DiDio always seemed like naturals. I never had any question that Bond would go because she's a trooper all the way. Harras has been a big question mark, but as far as I know, his kids are pretty grown up, which is usually a big factor in going westward ho or not.

Lee, perhaps realizing this is one of the few spots he has to dig in a little, sometimes avoids the kind of jokes and spin he uses in other interviews. And while his memory is always spotty (and any Lee interview includes may spots where he takes the question and moves the answer to more familiar territory) his grasp on things is still pretty sharp all things considered.
