The Hulk joins Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and more in epic Nike ad

The World Cup is coming in June and most of the world, and even an increasing number of Americans, will be stopping everything to watch it. Nike has released a new 4 minute mini film about kids playing a pick up game imagining they are international superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney and more, including Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimović (the guy with the ponytail), Gerard Piqué, Gonzalo Higuaín, Mario Götze, Eden Hazard, Thiago Silva, Andrea Pirlo, David Luiz, Andrés Iniesta and Thibaut Courtois. I also spotted Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Jon Jones and Anderson Silva among other sports/Nike luminaries.

Promising a look into the technological future, "Digital Comics: The Next Page" featured a variety of perspectives on making digital comics. Hosted by Josh Elder, account director at iVerse Media (and writer of Scribblenauts Unmasked for DC), the panel featured * Jim Chadwick, editor of DC Comics' DC Squared and digital-first titles, including the popular Injustice * Jen Brazas, webcomic cartoonist since 2004 * Christina Blanch and Mark Waid, both of Thrillbent, described as a "digital comic platform experimenting with all forms of digital comic distribution in the 21st century". iVerse CEO Michael Murphey, originally listed as participating, did not appear.

It's Monday morning and if you are feeling cranky I guarantee that browsing the We Are Comics tumblr will make you feel better. As reported by Steve Morris over the weekend, this is a Tumblr run by Rachel Edidin, Arturo Garcia, Elle Collins, and Sigrid Ellis, with social media help by Jen Vaughn, where people simply tell their stories about reading comics. All kinds of people, all ages, colors, genders...because comics ARE for everybody. I loved scrolling through and reading readers origin stories...they are so varied and enthusiastic and feel of love for imagination and creativity.

DC Movie news at last: Snyder directing Justice League movie; 9 more in development

Well FINALLY. Warner Bros. stopped heming and hawing and announced that they are actually making a Justice League movie! Hoorah! And it's going to be directed by Zack Snyder. Hoo...rah? In a big reveal at the WSJ, president of worldwide production Greg Silverman revealed that the JL movie will be a sequel to 2016's Batman vs Superman, and both will star Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Godot as Wonder Woman. The role of Cyborg is also being cast. The Justice League movie probably won't appear until 2018 at the soonest, however, meaning you will be able to completely high school or college before you see this film. Meanwhile, Marvel will have put out a Woodgod movie.

C2E2: The Man of Tomorrow panel with Pak, Snyder, Kuder and Soule

DC's final C2E2 panel focused on Superman featuring the talent line up of Greg Pak, Aaron Kuder, with Scott Snyder and Charles Soule coming in a little late. Much of Superman's 2014 was discussed along with Scott's heart felt goodbye to Superman Unchained. First up was Action Comics with Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder. The scene in issue 30 was shown where Doomsday kills polar bears. Pak went on to talk about how much fun he's having writing Action and that issue 30 was a prelude to the "Doomed" storyline. He promised in the upcoming storyline we'd see "enormous comic book fights like you've never seen before."

Sounds like this show has come into its own at last. § There were a bajillion comics events this weekend and one of the more oblique was the Brooklyn Zine Fest ; Robyn Chapman has a complete report and says it was her most profitable show since Comic Arts Brooklyn, so in Brooklyn they like ziney comics. That is good.
