After some squawking over forcing retailers to order September's "Future's End" event comics blind due to the time needed to manufacture the lenticular covers, DC has revealed all the lineups and even a few covers. It's the usual blend of mainstays, with a few yeoman back-ups. In other words, you must be reliable. As for whats in the stories, you can rely on a full array of face sewing, limb chopping, insect-leg attaching action as you like it!

The weekend in comics events, San Jose to Minnesota and beyond

Will every single comics creators be at a show this weekend? Since we know comics culture is booming I thought it might be interesting to check out just WHAT is happening around this nation of outs. I got most of these from Convention Scene but it didn't include the biggest show, Big Wow.

This Weekend: MeCAF in Portland, ME

The parade of the CAFs continues with MeCAF in Portland, Maine, a one day event to be held this Sunday, May 18th. This year the show has moved to a new venue, The Portland Company Complex at 58 Fore Street. It's still near the ocean, and has bigger space, free wifi and food vendors. Guests include Sean Gordon Murphy, James Sturm, Kazu Kibuishi, Jimmy Gownley, Zack Gialongo and Maris Wicks. Programming is here. This is a comics focused event with a big emphasis on all-ages material that everyone likes going to. There is also an emphasis on lobster, Shipyard beer and other nautical fare. The local paper has a nice preview.

Preview: Brubaker and Phillips are back with FADE OUT

The stellar comics making team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips is finishing up FATALE, but fading in on FADE OUT, a new collaboration due in August. The first issue will be 40 pages long, and given its old time Tinsel Town sbject atter, a varient edition will be printed in an oversized "movie magazine replica" format with 8 extra pages of behind-the-scenes art and articles.
