Wizard World is back in New York City — without comics UPDATED

13

Con wars are back! Only not warlike. After a long absence from the crucicble of New York City's cramped and expensive venues, Wizard World is coming back to the city that started it all with the WIzard World New York City Experience, to be held June 28-30 at Basketball City Pier 36. The venue is known to us but does recall the cavernous Pier 94 where Wizard held its 2009 show. The date doesn't seem to conflict with anything too major, save for a few smallish cards and comics shows in the midwest.

Must Read: David Petersen on settting up at a show

I've been informed that despite 2013 Comic-Con professional badge registration being shut down yesterday that was only a logistical consideration, and you can in fact apply for you pro badge right now. There is not an infinite supply, but there are many available. So get in there.

SDCC ’13: Pro Badge-o-ween has come…and gone and is still there — UPDATE

20
First it was hotels, then it was badges...now it's pro badges. Comic-Con International: San Diego professional badge registration went live at 1 pm Pacific time yesterday and free guest badges for attending professionals—once a little perk that everyone enjoyed—were gone in minutes, apparently. It isn't exactly clear when pro badges actually became unavailable because there was a site meltdown, a "come back later" and then...there was only this:

A little bit more on the con that snubbed the colorist

16
Yesterday's kerfuffle concerned a convention that wouldn't name a colorist as a guest. Although a smallish type kerfuffle, it did lead to a day of praising hard working colorists on twitter, so good came of it.
