Small Presses

It was a few years ago that AdHouse Books publisher Chris Pitzer announced AdDistro, a distribution business for small press comics, with books from Nobrow, Koyama Press and Malachi Ward to start. Well, now he's announced its end, and although that sounds sad, its actually because its so much easier to find books from these publishers now:

Better late than never! Please at least scroll through this (very incomplete) listing of new books out at MoCCA and just look at the pictures if nothing els.e There are some pretty amazing books coming out that haven't gotten that much press, so I think it's wroth your while.

This year's SPX Expo has just announced the addition of Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez to this year's show, joining previously announced Daniel Clowes and Chris Ware that means these four pillars of cartooning will be united on the East Coast for the first time since...well, maybe ever. YIKES!

Just a very quick moment to jot down a few thoughts on SPX. (My "official" report will be in PWCW tomorrow.) In short, it remains the summer camp of comics, with a bunch of people who are there for love just hanging out, talking, drawing, drinking, smiling and laughing.
