Beat Reviews for 16/01/13: X-Men, Hoax Hunters & Armstrong
Another week where I purposely ignore Saga! What devilry is this? Surely answers must be forthcoming.
This week I'll be reviewing X-Men #40, Hoax Hunters #6, and Archer and Armstrong #6.
X-Men #40 sees Seth...
The Beat Comic Reviews for 19/12/12: Spiders, Birds, Harbingers and Dazzlers
It's time for the last reviews section I'll be doing this year. I have to make it a little quicker than usual, too, because I've got to bob out to pick up some quality...
Good Work, Comics: Boy Bands and Shadow Edition
It’s getting tougher all the time, as Paul McCartney would’ve likely sung if the Beatles had reunited for a jaded comeback tour in the 1990s.
All you want in life is for Stephanie Brown to...
Advance Review: Shadowman #1
While Shadowman #1 isn't due out for a couple weeks, I had an advance look at the comic. And it's pretty good. We ran a preview not quite two months back of the first few pages,...
Valiant’s Shadowman in Film Development; JMS Attached as Screenwriter
And the transmedia streak continues. Valiant has confirmed the Deadline| Hollywood report to me that a Shadowman film is indeed in pre-production.
Deadline reports:
Valiant Entertainment and The Mummy producer Sean Daniel are teaming up to turn the Valiant...
Future of Valiant Highlights
At the Future of Valiant panel, Valiant is continuing to build out their universe. This isn't incredibly different from how the original Valiant universe sprung up. Perhaps, this is at a slightly slower pace....

Shadowman's "Blackout" Cover and The Eternal Warrior at Baltimore
By Todd Allen
Valiant's roll out continues. If you're familiar with the original, you caught an Eternal Warrior reference in the first issues of Archer and Armstrong. Sure enough, on Saturday's Valiant panel at the Baltimore...
Nanites and Mindwipes: A Bloodshot #1 Review
Something that may have gotten lost in the shuffle of Comicon was the release of Bloodshot #1, the third title from Valiant's relaunch. Valiant went raiding Marvel again for the creative team: Duane Swierczynski (Iron Fist, Cable, and more recently Birds of Prey) is the writer, Manuel Garcia (probably best known for runs on Raven and Checkmate) is penciling with Arturo Lozzi, Stefano Gaudiano (all sorts of Marvel titles... plus X-O Manowar) is inking.
Harbinger #3 Preview
I've been handed a preview for Harbinger #3 by Joshua Dysart, Khari Evans and Lewis LaRosa, due out on August 15th. In this chapter, our hero finally lands at the Harbinger Foundation. As I've said before, and probably will be saying for the foreseeable future, this is a comic that does not flinch at embracing the dark side of super powers. It looks like the slow build towards a particularly twisted conflict of moral agendas is picking up a little momentum.
Shadowman #1 Confirmed For November Plus Preview Art
By Todd Allen
That teaser from Tuesday was indeed Shadowman. Looks like Valiant is doing a launch, not a spin-off as November will see Shadowman #1. Writing is by Justin Jordan. Art is by Patrick...
