What's behind DC's new website?

0
When DC rolled out its website, we remarked on how much of a West Coast DC project this was. Although we were just guessing, here's an interview with VP of Interactive Marketing Jason James talking about the new website. Fan reaction has been a bit unkind, but then...when isn't it? And yet, the goal is to engage, engage, engage.

The bigger picture on Marvel's new digital initiative

0
While Marvel's corporate policies don't allow for too much investment in their print business, they have been really ramping up the digital side of things. Why? Rob Salkowitz looks at the meta side of the new online comics line and AR experiments in terms of how it positions the company:

11
You remember Brian K. Vaughan? He used to write comics. Y:The Last Man. Ex Machina. The vastly under-appreciated Dr. Strange: The Oath. Then he left comics to write television. John Carter: flop or victim?

75
Well, it's official, JOHN CARTER is being labeled a disaster, a flop, an "Ishtar" and anything else that signifies profit-and-loss ratio infamy. And the hate is baffling.

Marvel's SXSW panel has started and Twitter is going berserk. (Remember, Twitter was launched at SXSW.) DC Drastically Cuts Number of Subscriptions Offered Online

0
Earlier this week I had a look at DC's more prominently linked subscription list. Either I struck a nerve or that list was scheduled to be updated. It would appear that someone at DC thought they were offering too many subscriptions.

Marvel Does More Cost-Cutting: Changing Cover Stock for $2.99 Titles in April

0
It was quietly announced to retailers yesterday that Marvel will be changing the all their $2.99 titles to the "self-cover" format, starting in April. "Self-cover" meaning that the paper of the cover is the same as the paper of the internal pages. Truth be told, this sounds like a bigger change than it is.

0
"Speak of the Devil and he shall appear." On Wednesday, we were discussing how books were shipping on time, but there were a lot of fill-in artists. Now it's Friday and DC has announced two more "Guest Artists."
