The View announces something about Angela a woman becoming Thor

14
OOPS -- ALL WRONG! It's Jason Aaron and Russell Dautermann! on some unspecified Lady Thor. But Angela still seems likely. But note the talk about female audience in the pr! Okay that's the last time I ever play guessing games!
Marvel is excited to announce an all-new era for the God of Thunder in brand new series, THOR, written by Jason Aaron (Thor: God of Thunder, Original Sin) complimented with art from Russell Dauterman (Cyclops).

Educator Christina Blanch had made quite a name for herself with her MOOCs covering gender and social issues in comics. But she's also a very talented writer, and her Thrillbent series The Damnation of Charlie Wormwood has gotten a lot of positive attention. And this October it's coming to print, courtesy of Dynamite. With a Franceso Francavilla cover so you know its good.

Dynamite announces The Art of Army of Darkness

0
As you know, we're big Bruce Campbell fans here at Stately Beat Manor, and Bruce was never Brucier than in Army of Darkness. So with Dynamite about to release a collection of The Art of Amy of Darkness—which was their first comic book some 10 (!!!) years ago—you know we'll want a copy so we can relive artistic reinterpretations of great moments in the history of the One True Bruce, from John Bolton's classic key art on. Hail to the King, baby.

Review: Spider-Man 2099 #1 — Everything new is old again

2
The Marvel Universe of 2099 debuted in 1993 with four titles, one of which was Spider-Man 2099. The bulk of the series, featuring Miguel O’Hara as Spider-Man battling supervillains and the evil-future-corporation of Alchemax, was written by Peter David. I love Peter David. He’s a wonderful writer who knows dialogue, structure, and character development. David is a superhero in his own right -- when he suffered a stroke in 2012, he broke the news himself on his blog a few days later, and he’s been writing comics pretty consistently since his recovery. It’s flat-out wonderful that David is writing a Spider-Man 2099 comic in the year 2014, the actual 21st century.

Oh man, it's getting dark and edgy at Archie Comics! They've been planning a reboot of their superhero line for a while, with SVP and respected mystery novelist Alex Segura helping out with the editorial side, and now it's getting a new name: Formerly known as Red Circle, the reboot will now be known as Dark Circle -- maybe giving it a bit of a horror edge and playing off the massive success of Afterlife with Archie, the zombies in Riverdale epic.
