Batman: The Animated Series fans were overjoyed last year when DC Comics announced it would be returning to the world of that beloved cartoon with Batman: The Adventures Continue, a a six-issue digital-first miniseries co-written by B:TAS producers/writers Paul Dini and Alan Burnett and illustrated by Ty Templeton, artist on many a previous animated-style Batman story, as well as colorist Monica Kubina. The same creative team is back for Batman: The Adventures Continue Season II.
After introducing fan-favorite characters such as Deathstroke and Jason Todd in last year’s miniseries, Season II promises even more classic DC Comics characters making their debut in the world of B:TAS including Deadman and the Court of Owls. Since they were introduced in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo‘s acclaimed Batman run as part of the New 52 relaunch, the Court of Owls have made numerous appearances outside of comics including the upcoming Gotham: Arkham Knights video game.
Fans and collectors will recall that DC Direct launched a toy line in conjunction with the comic series with figures of characters based on the iconic style who had not appeared in the animated series. Unfortunately, after DC Direct was shuttered the toy line was canceled despite unveiling future action figures of characters such as Talon, the Batman Who Laughs, and others.
