Warner Bros. has announced the first installment of the animated Batman: Knightfall film trilogy, Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, will be available to purchase digitally on August 25, before releasing on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 8, 2026. The news was accompanied by a new trailer for the film, based on the seminal 1993 arc that pitted Batman (voiced by Anson Mount) against Bane (Michael Mando) for the first time.
The film, which also stars Pablo Schreiber (Halo) as Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael, was directed by Jeff Wamester (Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths) and written by regular comics scribe Jeremy Adams. The digital, 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases will come up with the special features Breaking the Bat: Adapting the Knightfall and Batman Needs a Robin, casting the spotlight on each respective aspect of the film.
Knightfall Part 1 is rated R for strong bloody violence, and runs for 78 minutes. It will be followed later this year by part two, and next year by part three, which will presumably be titled Knightquest and KnightsEnd like their comics counterparts. The trilogy will hopefully help tide over Batman movie fans, who received the news last week that the next live-action film, The Batman: Part II, had been delayed again until February 18, 2028.

Fans will also be able to see Michael Mando as Marvel’s Scorpion in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, also out July 31, and Mount as Captain Pike in season four of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, premiering on Paramount+ Thursday, July 23.
