In a report surfacing at THR today, Amber Heard, last seen in Magic Mike XXL and The Danish Girl, has entered into negotiations to play Mera opposite Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in both Zack Snyder’s Justice League and James Wan’s Aquaman.

Mera, the Queen of Atlantis, is probably the casting that Aquaman fans are most anxious about, so it will be interesting to see reactions to this news.

Aquaman is currently on a dual track development, with scripts written by both Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire) and David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2).

Justice League is headed to theaters on November 17, 2017, while Aquaman is scheduled for a July 27, 2018 release.

  1. Heard does NOT have the acting abilities to pull off a strong believable Mera. Her scenes are constantly cut from her previous movies she so called starred in. There is a reason for that. She’s easy on the eyes but there are other, more deserving REAL actresses out there. Don’t be lazy Warner, this could be amazing with the RIGHT leading lady. Mila Jovovich, Rachelle Lefevre, and Kathleen Robertson are all way better choices. You want a big amazing picture? Get a STRONG female lead that wont be in prison in Australia.
