All week, DC Comics has been posting teaser images for an upcoming project by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Bruno Redondo. The images have featured Batman, Commissioner Gordon, and members of the Justice League. Today at SDCC Málaga, DC officially revealed what those teasers were for. Batman: Justice Year, a new series from Williamson, Redondo, and colorist Adriano Lucas, will launch next year. The series will follow a younger Dark Knight during his first interactions with the Justice League.

The cover image above was posted by Williamson on social media after the announcement was made. The logo design is reminiscent of the iconic cover treatment from Batman #404-407, the four-part “Batman: Year One” storyline by Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli. It’s certainly evocative of a specific era in Batman’s career.

The series is the first collaboration between Williamson and Redondo, and the first major project for DC from Redondo since last year’s Superman Treasury 2025: Hero For All. It’s the latest DC title from Williamson, who is also writing the ongoing Superman series as well as the recently-launched Next Level Legion of Super-Heroes series.

Check out the teaser images for Batman: Justice Year below, in the order in which they were released. Hopefully we can expect to hear more about this series at next week’s New York Comic Con.
