Things have been heating up for 2-time Eisner-nominated writer Stephanie Williams, with projects like Vixen and her return to the pages of Wonder Woman recently being announced. But this January, she’s turning down the temperature with a brand-new special with DC Comics!

After hinting on social media months ago that she was getting the opportunity to write fan favorite Donna Troy, we now know that the original Wonder Girl is leading an unlikely team of heroes and villains to take on an old threat from DC’s past.

As revealed in DC’s January solicitations released today, Williams will be teaming up with artist Dexter Soy for Justice League: Arctic Attack Special #1. The story kicks off when the Wonder Girls, Donna Troy, Cassie Sandsmark, and Yara Flor, embark on a covert mission to recover the stolen Purple Ray technology. But when things don’t go according to plan, Donna is forced to bring together ice-based heroes and villains to stop the undead Frozen Empress from plunging humanity into an icy grave.

Here is the official solicitation:

When the Wonder Girls’ covert mission to retrieve stolen purple ray tech goes sideways, Donna Troy must assemble an unconventional team of cool-headed heroes and villains to take down the original Killer Frost back from the dead before she plunges humanity into a frosty grave! Rising stars Stephanie Williams and Dexter Soy take the helm of this frosty Justice League Special!

When speaking online about this chilling new special, Williams said, “Y’all aren’t ready for the chilly goodness that Dexter Soy and I have cooked up for the Justice League: Arctic Attack Special! Taurin Clarke went crazy on the Donna Troy featured cover, and Dexter Soy is giving you a taste of the interior goodness with this ice-cold cover featuring Donna and her subzero team.”

With Williams and Soy making things cold in here, Justice League: Arctic Attack Special #1 looks to be bringing together some familiar faces from the DC Universe for an amazing adventure.
