When we ran yesterday’s news about a new Suicide Girls comic from IDW, the PR included a rough version of the cover by Cameron Stewart. Stewart tweeted the finished version and it’s a lot nicer. And for a comic based on a website featuring nude models, it is totally classy.

Also another comic book connection is that Suicide Girls have had some amazing long and in-depth interviews with comic book creators over the years (in the free part of their site that didn’t have any nudity). I remember a really great one with Jaime Hernandez a while back.

Whatever happened last year with the SGs getting banned from San Diego Comic-Con?

Yup, nothing says classy (and “empowerment”) like a comic based on tatooed, overly pierced strippers.

Why hate on the SGs? Some of them are really cool people. And for real – if someone wants to have pictures of themselves on a website, why hate?

Eh. Suicide Girls isn’t much more than Playboy for ‘alt’ subcultures. Take that for both good and bad.

And wow.. that ‘awesome smiley’ sure gets around. Though the goons that started it got sick of it and rather disowned it.

Meanwhile, looking at the pic quick, I was thinking it was Gert from Runaways in the middle with that shirt.
