As a hushed world waited with bated breath, the waiting is over: Pantone has announced their Color of the Year. And it’s Emerald, aka Pantone 17-5641 TCX. Reviewers hailed the move, saying “”Lively. The early award season for books is here, and earlier this week the American Library association handed out a slew of literary awards. As has been the recent trend, several graphic novels were recognized among the pictureless books:
The Slate Book Review and the Center for Cartoon Studies have teamed up for a new cartooning honor: The Cartoonist Studio Prizes. There are two categories—Best Graphac Novel and Best Web Comic—with 10 finalists in each category. Winners will each receive a $1,000 prize

Long delayed, the second volumes of Vasilis Lolos’s Last Call will come out February 13th from Oni Press. It’s the story of two friends who are trapped on a devilish train and the mysteries that ensue. Lolos hasn’t been around much of late, but it’s good to see his stylish art once more.
