As revealed in a FB post and confirmed by The Beat, indie cartoonist Zack Soto has joined Oni Press as an editor.
Soto – like Oni, located in Portland – is best known for writing and drawing his Secret Voice comics, but he’s also the editor in chief of the Study Group webcomics collective and the offshoot print anthologies for years…in other words, he knows the editorial terrain and should bring a distinctive voice to Oni’s offerings.
It’s the first announced hire for Oni since a spate of departures over the summer in the wake of the publisher’s merger with Lion Forge, which, like this website, is owned by Parent company Polarity.
You’ll be able to ask Zack Soto all about the move at this weekend’s Small Press Expo, where he’ll be appearing.
