Late Friday, via Twitter, Yen Press made a correction to a previous announced license, a manga spin off of the popular Persona 5 video game franchise.

“We regret to say that due to an error on our part, the licenses for PERSONA 5 MEMENTOSU MISSION and PERSONA 5 A LA CARTE were mistakenly announced at Anime Expo.”

This reversal was followed by further clarification by Twitter, “To be clear, Yen Press has not been granted the rights to publish these titles in English. Our sincerest regrets for any confusion caused.”

Yen had announced the Persona 5 license at Anime Expo, the largest anime/manga convention in the United States, held every year in the Los Angele area.

According to Amazon listings, Shogakukan’s Persona 5 manga by Hisato Murasaki will be released in January 2020 by Viz Media. UDON Entertainment also publishes Persona by Atlus from Kadokawa.

Persona 5 the game is published by Atlus and has also been spun-off into a successful anime.
