Acclaimed Marvel creators have been revisiting the classic characters they helped define through new projects such as the upcoming Ben Reilly: Spider-Man series by writer J.M. DeMatteis and the Silver Surfer: Rebirth miniseries from writer Ron Marz and artist Ron Lim. In that vein, the publisher has announced a new Venom: Lethal Protector 5-issue miniseries from writer David Michelinie who co-created the symbiotic villain alongside Todd MacFarlane.

Joining Michelinie is rising artist Ivan Fiorelli in this miniseries that will explore the early days of Venom and possibly hint at things to come. No colorist, letterer, or additional members of the creative team were named in the announcement. The first issue will feature a cover drawn by Paulo Siqueira.

Between this as well as the recently relaunched ongoing series plus the Venom: Let There Be Carnage film that teased a potential multiversal crossover either in the Spider-Man: No Way Home film arriving in theaters this week or somewhere down the line, it’s a good time to be a Venom fan.

Here’s now Marvel describes the miniseries:

Michelinie divulged the experience of returning to the iconic Spidey villain:

“Getting to do a multi-issue story with the original Venom was like sitting down to dinner with an old friend–who wants to eat your brain for dessert! It was both fun and exciting, and I hope people enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.”

Look for Venom: Lethal Protector #1 to arrive in stores on March 23, 2022.
