Garfield Logan is about to add a new creature to his shape-changing repertoire: alien sea star. DC Comics has released a first-look preview at the upcoming Titans: Beast World #1, which finds Beast Boy at the center of an alien invasion of Earth by new villain The Necrostar. The event series initially announced at this year’s San Diego Comic Con comes from the creative team of writer Tom Taylor, artists Ivan Reis and Danny Miki, and colorist Brad Anderson

Here’s how DC describes the first issue of the series, out later this month:

The Necrostar, a godlike being with a thirst for conquest, is awakened, and the Titans, along with the rest of the Super Heroes of the DC Universe, team up to fight this horrible threat. Gar Logan, a.k.a. Beast Boy, comes up with an unexpected solution, fighting fire with fire as he transforms into the only thing that can take on a giant, star-shaped cosmic creature.

The unlettered preview pages feature the Titans team assembling to take on the Necrostar, with a clear focus on Beast Boy and his transformation into a giant Starro – and maybe also into something horrific, if one of the images is any indication.

Along with a main cover by Reis, Miki, and Anderson, Titans: Beast World #1 will sport variant covers by Bruno RedondoBjörn Barends, and Stanley “ArtGerm” Lau. All six issues of the series will also be available with lenticular covers featuring art by by Clayton Henry and Marcelo Maiolo.

Titans: Beast World is the latest entry in DC’s Dawn of DC initiative, though the nature of its connection to the overarching story of Dawn of DC, which has Amanda Waller quietly making moves against the heroes of the DC Universe behind the scenes, remains to be seen. Giant alien starfish attacking the planet will probably mean her moves won’t be so quiet going forward, though.

Check out the unlettered interior preview of Titans: Beast World #1 below. The first issue of the six-part event series is due out on Tuesday, November 28th.
