If you’re looking for a good time at a con, this weekend’ sEast Coast Comicon is just what you might need. It’s a throwback comics focused show with guests including Jim Starlin, David Lloyd, Joe Sinnott, Simon Bisley, Tony Isabella and many more. Media guests include Mickey Dolenz, Starsky, Hutch AND Huggy Bear.

I went to the show last year and had a blast talking to friends and hanging out. It’s definitely a reminder of what comics events were like before all the fooferaw began, but you’ll find a lot of great folks there. The programming is listed here and looks excellent.

  1. Except for the word “throwback,” which can be read as dismissive and snarky and fails to take into account those of us who are still doing what I immodestly think are comics as good as any in the field and better than most, I appreciate your mentioning this convention. It was, indeed, a fun event. I got to spend time with old friends like Roy and Dann Thomas, Larry Lieber, Joe Sinnott, Jim Salicrup and many others. Plus, my driver from the airport to the hotel was a 72-year old salsa singer – he didn’t start singing in bands until he was 60 – who, on hearing that I can’t write with English-language music in the background and, instead, listen to foreign language music, popped in a CD and sang a salsa song to me. The universe keeps giving me these wonderful moments. I’ll blog about the even eventually.
