Dynamite has revealed it will release a new comics series of The X-Files sometime this winter. The book, written by previous X-Files comics scribe Joe Harris, will feature art by Riley Brown (Dead Acre: Black Badge), and take place after the TV show, with FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully continuing to investigate paranormal cases. Further details, like whether it takes place after the show’s initial run from 1993 to 2002, or its revival from 2016 to 2018, are forthcoming.
Harris says, “The X-Files has always been sacred to me. From my own early TV fandom on Friday and Sunday nights to getting to work on one of the greatest supernatural thriller/science fiction franchises in history, the further adventures of Agents Mulder and Scully have occupied a very special place in my head and career. I am beyond honored to write them and I am absolutely over the moon to work with Dynamite on this new series.”

Created by Chris Carter, The X-Files, like, Buffy and Angel, aired on the Fox network, and was inherited by Disney after the sale of 20th Century Fox Television in 2017. Comics based on the show were published by Topp, DC, and then IDW from 1995 to 2018, with Harris penning IDW’s Season 10, 11, and more from 2013 to 2017; he also wrote a comic for the publisher based on the show’s spin-off, Millennium, featuring Mulder, in 2015.
The new book’s announcement coincides with the R-rated director’s cut of the 2008 film, The X-Files: I Want to Believe – Vrach Frankenshteyn, releasing on Hulu tomorrow, August 14, and the currently in-production reboot of the show for the streamer from Ryan Coogler, starring Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel. A LEGO set of the series is also set to be released tomorrow.
