In an announcement coming directly from DC Entertainment, CW’s big hit The Flash and CBS’ Supergirl will be crossing-over with Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen coming to National City on the March 28th episode of Supergirl, just three days after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens! It’s like a cavalcade of character cross-overs!
From DC’s big statement today:
“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl—The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!,” said The Flashand Supergirl Executive Producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg. “We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”
Just how will this crossover occur? You have to assume the multiversal plotline that’s making its way through The Flash currently has to have something to do with it, as we’ve never heard anyone talk about Superman on either Arrow or The Flash. Does Supergirl take place on Earth 2? Some other variant? Or has Superman actually been in the background of these series all along and we just didn’t know it?
We’ll find out soon enough.
