New canon? Website attempts to list 100 Best Comics of the First Half of...
I've heard some pretty strong arguments against having any "canon" in comics, and I tend to agree. What canon there is is mostly defined by the strong tradition of comics strips to superheroes to undergrounds, as exemplified by the Masters of American Comics show of a decade ago. I think a few old farts still argue about the Comics Journal's Top 100 Comics of the Twentieth Century, but we've come a long way in just 15 years. These canons just aren't diverse enough to reflect where comics have gone in just a very short time.

Barnes & Nobles sales down, but people still love adult coloring books
B&N released its quarterly SEC filing, and sales were down in many business segments. However the adult coloring book craze continues to drive sales as people find a sense of well being and serenity in staying between the lines. PW's Jim Milliot has a succinct write up of the results:
It’s complicated: Marvel Netflix TV and movie characters won’t crossover in Avengers: Infinity War
If you were concerned that the next Avengers movie, Avenger: Infinity War, slated for 2018, would contain 150 Marvel characters and sacrifice drama, storytelling and memory storage to too many characters running around, rest easy: there will only be 100 characters in the film. That's because the Marvel Netflix character can't really cross over into the movies. This little tiddlebit was revealed by A:IW director Anthony Russo—one half of the Directin' Russo Brothers—who was being interviewed by a Portuguese outlet, and thought, as many have before him, that just because it was in a foreign language he could be be more candid than normal. Google Translate, Anthony. It's free.

Based on these photos, Comic Arts LA was swell
The second annual Comics Arts LA festival was held yesterday, in its first year as a two-day show. It's the Los Angeles stop on the Premiere Indie Comics Circuit, and had a strong influence from the local animation community, as befits its founders, Jen Wang, Angie Wang. Iris Jong and Jake Mumm, several of whom have ties to that community. While I haven't found any detailed write-ups, it seems like everyone was up on their socials, with happy photos of comics and people all backlit with the warm, golden sun of early winter downtown LA.
