Hawthorne High School Comic Convention is back on May 10th

Hawthorne High School in New Jersey has been throwing a comic con for seven years, and thanks to the help of art teacher Alan Rosenberg's great contacts, they always have a stellar line-up of great cartoonists. This year's show, to be held May 10th, will be a Tribute to Joe Kubert, and I'm guessing it will be one of those small intimate shows that so many folks enjoy. Guests include Walt Simonson, Herb Trimpe, Joe Staton and more.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently filming in Aosta, Italy which has to be tough because one bowl of pasta and it's going to show in your spandex, but luckily, as these photos show, some of the costumes have pasta-concealing features. Elizabeth Olson said she wasn't going to go around in a scarlet swimsuit as The Scarlet Witch and she is sure not wearing a swimsuit. Sensible shoes and everything!

The Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction has just announced a new MFA course in "Applied Cartooning", which is a word I hear a lot hat talks about using comics for educational and informational purposes. When the cartoon Illuminati gets together they are all about Applied Cartooning, trust me. According to the announcement, this program will explore "how comics can impact such diverse fields as health, business, public policy, and education."
