The Cover to Nonplayer #2 and how to make money as an artist
Some rambling thoughts on various aspects of making comics and making money.
I alluded earlier to the sudden announcement that Nonplayer #2 by Nate Simpson was finished and would be presumably be coming out later this year. Simpson has written a much longer piece complete with a FAQ confirming that the issue will be in the May solicitations from Image; he's contacted Image about reprinting issue #1 but no response yet, and Warners—which had optioned the comic—has let their rights lapse, so it's there for the taking. And then he gets to why it took 3 1/2 years to draw the comic. It's a long answer but I'll lift a graph:
Stjepan Sejic is the new artist on Rat Queens
Following the departure of co-creator Roc Upchurch, Rat Queens is getting a new artist for issues 9-11: Stjepan Sejic, already an Image name for his work on Sunstone.
Kurtis J. Wiebe continues as writer of the popular female-led sword-and-sorcery title. Tess Fowler is drawing the The RAT QUEENS SPECIAL: BRAGA #1, which comes out on January 14, with Sejic taking over for issue #9 out on February 25.

Just what it says. Brandon Graham, Emma Ríos and James Robinson are joining the crowd at Image Expo, to be held January 8th in...
Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber offer “The Fix” in 2015
Writer Nick Spencer just posted this teaser image for what seems to be a new Image book, drawn by Steve Lieber, his Superior Foes of Spider-Man collaborator. Completing the "get to know each other at big two, go to Image for honeymoon" move that so many have been making.
While the image and title seem to suggest a series about neutering beagles, we suspect it may be more compelling than that.
Upchurch removed as Rat Queens artist following arrest
Rat Queens co-creator Kurtis J. Wiebe has posted a statement regarding his co-creator Roc Upchurch's recent arrest for domestic violence after attacking his ex-wife. The upshot: Upchurch is off the book.

Video: Dating tips with Fraction and Zdarsky
We've finally reached the place where cartoonists are giving dating advice in short videos. That it is the SEX CRIMINALS team of Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky should come as no surprise, as they were seemingly genetically bred for this task. The duo appear in a video on EW to talk about their new "advice" book Just the Tips
and tell some dating stories. Zdarsky definitely wins this one, and it's true if there's no one to talk to, breaking up is hard.
Catching up on Image’s new Teasers: Rundown, Vesuvius and more
Okay so Image has been teasing team members of a new super team book from the last few days—smart money says Jay Faerber may be involved—and just for reference, it's shaping up to be quite a team of misfits and characters!
Image teases Luminary and The Recluse
Image has jumped on the teaser bandwagon with what seems to be two new series. Lumosity is about the daughter of the President of the US having superpowers (attn: Shonda Rhimes), and The Recluse seems to be a less high concept tale.
Will these be coming the books announced at January's Image Expo? Or just in next weeks solicitations?
Image Expo coming back in January—new books from Vaughan, Snyder, McFarlane, Liu, Lenox and...
Image Expo, the "Apple announcements" of comics is returning for a fourth outing in January on January 8th, once again at the Yerba Buena the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. The creator line-up includes Brian K. Vaughan (SAGA, Y: The Last Man), Todd McFarlane (SPAWN), Scott Snyder (WYTCHES, Batman), Emi Lenox (EMITOWN), Jeff Lemire (Green Arrow, Trillium), and Marjorie Liu(Astonishing X-Men) but SPECIAL GUESTS are promised. It would not be a stretch to guess that the above named creators will be announcing new projects from Image.
