IDW starts publishing Disney Comics

3
IDW sort of hinted at this back at NYCC, when they announced an Artists Editions of the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa. At the retailer meeting, Dirk Wood said, in that special way of his, something along the lines of "There will be more coming from IDW and Disney." which at the time was a pretty clear indication there would be...more. And so there is, and they mentioned it again in the fall but no one noticed. And now they just slyly let it out in the April Solicitations.

Don Rosa’s Life and Time of Scrooge McDuck gets Artist’s Edition from IDW

An oversize artist's edition of Don Rosa's devoutly worshipped The Life and Time of Scrooge McDuck? You'll have to wait until April, true believers. Rosa's epic biography of heroic skinflint McDuck is considered a modern classic,...

Reminder: Walt Disney was a sexist Jerk

35
Yeah yeah, Walt Disney was a genius and a trailblazer and a visionary...but he was also a racist and a horrible sexist. The letter informing a woman applying for a job at the studio informing her that "Women do not do any of the creative work in connection with preparing the cartoons for the screen, as that work is performed entirely by young men. For this reason girls are not considered for the training school." has been floating around for years, but recently a newspaper story by Disney biographer Bob Thomas laying out his ideas of women's capabilities has been unearthed and it's even worse.

Let’s get dangerous: Darkwing Duck writing credit kerfuffle

4
This thing is going on with a new publisher called Joe Books, and the credits on Boom! Studio's long ago (2010) Darkwing Duck series. Yes. The Outhouse has a succinct round-up but as best as I can make out, here's what happened:

And finally…here is the dancing Baby Groot you have been clamoring for

3
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GncYQHBJIw&w=560&h=315] Disney has released a clip of Dancing Baby Groot even though (spoilers) it spoils the end of the movie. I guess good social media is worth more than spoiling movies in the era...

Analysis: ‘Guardians’ rule the galaxy with biggest ever August opening, and Marvel keeps mining...

10
Whoa, Guardians of the Galaxy…where to start. In a summer of unexceptional sequels and remakes, Marvel and Disney triumphed with a new creation that had a fresh take on the space opera genre, while introducing such comics elements as Thanos, Infinity Gems, and Rocket Raccoon. I never thought I would type that sentence outside of a fever dream.

Disney heroically attempting to blow the brains out of zombie Stan Lee Media

6
I've been doing this daily comics news thing for 11 years, more or less, and if there is one thing which has remained consistent throughout those 11 years of comics industry tumult, it's Stan Lee Media suing someone or something. I honestly don't remember all the things they've sued, but it includes Stan Lee, Marvel (many times) Conan Properties, and Disney (many times). The suits usually claim that Stan Lee Media owns Spider-Man, or the Avengers or Conan or whatever someone is making a movie of, and the suits always involve insanely tortured legal claims over unrelated documents. The courts always rule against SLMi, as it's called, but that doesn't stop them. They keep coming back.
