Cast announcements of the upcoming DC Universe streaming original series Stargirl have been making the rounds for the past year, with no official release date revealed as of yet. Expect to wait a bit until premiere news, but until then feast your eyes on the official Stargirl logo that was unveiled today.
Moreover, it was also announced that every episode of Stargirl will be broadcast on The CW Network following its debut on the DC Universe subscription service, subsequently becoming available to watch for free on CW’s digital platforms. It’s a unique strategy to say the least. At SDCC last July, DC Universe announced similar plan for Doom Patrol Season 2 with episodes set to premiere simultaneously on both DC Universe and the upcoming HBO Max streaming service.
With the long-running Arrow series that begat the titular Arrowverse coming to an end January 28, it only makes sense to fill the void left by Oliver Queen with another Greg Berlanti DC Comics show that unlike Titans or Doom Patrol is in keeping with The CW’s network standards and demographic. Between this and the Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons animated series coming to CW Seed, it doesn’t look like DC Comics media is slowing down anytime soon with its television projects.
