EA just announced Star Wars: Squadrons, sharing a trailer and October 2 release date.

Here’s how the publisher describes the game:

Buckle up, take full control of starfighters such as the X-wing and TIE fighter, and feel the adrenaline of strategic first-person 5v5 multiplayer dogfights alongside your squadron.

In a fateful campaign set near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling STAR WARS™ single-player story. The New Republic fights for freedom. The Empire demands order. We need you to join the galaxy’s finest. STAR WARS™: Squadrons is available October 2, 2020 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Origin PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Virtual Reality (VR) on PlayStation 4 and PC with cross-play support.

Unsurprisingly given EA’s focus of late, Star Wars: Squadrons puts an emphasis on combat multiplayer, but the game also includes a single-player campaign. Going by the pre-order price on Best Buy, the game will be available for a budget price of $39.99 as opposed to the standard $59.99 cost of most AAA titles.

Hopefully, Star Wars: Squadrons continues the trend of good Star Wars game, following the critically acclaimed Jedi: Fallen Order released last year.

EA states in the YouTube description that the publisher will share more information during its EA Play event at 7 PM EST on June 18.
