This post contains spoilers for the first three seasons of Star Trek: Discovery, which are currently streaming on Paramount+.

Discovery
New uniforms?!

As part of the First Contact Day online festivities on Monday, April 5th, 2021, a new trailer for the upcoming fourth season of Star Trek: Discovery was released.

The season looks to be picking up with the new status quo established in the season three finale of Discovery, with Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) boldly leading her crew where no one has gone before – which in this case, means continuing to explore the brave new world that served as the backdrop for the third season (nearly 1,000 years into the future from Disco’s temporal point of origin).

Discovery bridge crew
Lt. Joann Owosekun (Oyin Oladejo), Captain Burnham (Martin-Green), and Book (David Ajala).

But perhaps one of the most striking details about the teaser, which promises that the crew of the Disco will be facing even more bleak circumstances this season, includes the debut of the crew’s brand-new uniforms!

Discovery
Dr. Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz) and Ensign Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman).

(As for the crew of the Enterprise, we’ll be seeing more of their further exploits on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which spins out of the second season of Discovery).

Discovery
Adira Tal (Blu del Barrio) and Gray Tal (Ian Alexander).

The teaser features brief appearances from the members of the Disco crew, including recent recruits Cleveland “Book” Booker (Ajala), Adira Tal (del Barrio), and Gray Tal (Alexander)…

Discovery
“She’s heavy, and all mine.”

And never fear: the teaser confirms that Book’s sidekick, Grudge the cat (played by lookalike sibling Maine Coon felines Leeu and Durban), will be returning when the fourth season arrives on Paramount+ later this year.

Discovery
Lt. Keyla Detmer (Emily Coutts).

The teaser for Discovery was accompanied by new teasers for the second seasons of Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Lower Decks.
