Jonathan Baylis’s So Buttons is a long running—10 years!—autobiographical comic strip that has been published mostly as a series of minis. Baylis has been chronicling his life with the help of a bunch of all star artists including Noah Van Sciver, Joseph Remnant, Rachel Dukes, Rick Parker, Hembeck, Dean Haspiel, Jay Lynch, Ed Piskor, Tom Scioli and more.

Baylis will be at SPX this weekend (Table G1) with a new collection of stories: So Buttons: Man of, Like, a Dozen Faces with the tastiest slices of his life, and two new stories: “So…Hallow” with art by Rick Parker & Noah VanSciver and “So…Bejeweled,” art by Rachel Dukes.

The Beat has known Baylis for a long time…in his youngest days he interned at Marvel, Valiant/Acclaim, and was an Associate Editor at Topps Comics, so there’s some Chromium Age reminiscing from time to time, as in this story, illustrated by Fred Hembeck about the time that Bayliss met Golden Age great Joe Simon.

He’s an affable guy with an affable life and these stories are fun, honest and something pretty much all of us can relate to. You can buy the book from his directly at SPX this weekend or online at SoButtons.com (signed), on Amazon, and digitally via comiXology.
