This edition of the Small Press Spotlight is showcasing Uncharted Wilderness Studios‘ The World of Tomorrow. The fifth and penultimate issue of the 1950s sci-fi/comedy limited series is available today.

Read details from the publisher here:

This penultimate episode of the 6-issue limited series finds protagonist, Craig Barstow, waking up after surviving his multiple street brawls from the previous issue. With barely enough time to return to the studio for the broadcast of the final episode of his TV show, Craig and Johnnie inadvertently discover what’s been triggering his split personality. As Craig searches for a cure (in the most unlikely of places), the Friezemans learn about his condition and attempt to unleash Captain Cal as a human wrecking ball to destroy Craig’s life forever.

“This issue sees Craig wake up, both literally and figuratively, as a new man. He’s making plans for the future and things are generally looking up for him”, said series writer Giles Clarke. “But that is, of course, when the bottom generally falls out. I really enjoyed writing this episode for a number of reasons, not least of which was highlighting that great life advice can sometimes come from the unlikeliest of people. You’re just going to have to pick up Issue 5 to find out more.”

The entire original art team continues their run on this series:

Line artist: Kenan Halilović has drawn for such titles as Legacy and Witch Creek Road.

Colorist: Felipe Obando whose work can be seen in Rough Justice, The American Beast, and Sleepwalkers.

Lettering by AndWorld Design, the design studio founded by Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated letterer Deron Bennett. AndWorld’s credits include Detective Comics, Fearscape, and Voltron.

The World of Tomorrow #5 is available today, and the final issue will be on sale on December 20.

  1. AndWorld Design… an entire business dedicated to lettering. Seen them in so many comics and I’ve seen the pay-rate of lettering, that’s one field I think needs to change in comics the most.
