She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Season 4 is on Netflix RIGHT NOW. Season 3 left our heroes in a dark place. The Horde is gaining the upper hand over the princesses. Queen Angella has lost her life, Entrapta has been exiled to Beast Island, and Hordak’s call to Horde Prime has been heard. As season four begins, Queen Glimmer’s coronation is on the horizon.

But before you get to all of that, you have to check out The Beat contributor Klaudia Amenábar‘s video interview with the cast and crew of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power season 4. Watch as she speaks to Lauren Ash (Scorpia), AJ Michalka (Catra), Aimee Carrero (Adora/She-Ra), Karen Fukuhara (Glimmer), and showrunner Noelle Stevenson about what to expect from the latest season of this animated epic.

When asked about the core message she wants to send to young girls watching She-Ra this season, Stevenson said, “It’s really important to me. I feel like, especially with media aimed at girls, there’s a strong message of friendship and empowerment, but in real life, friendships can be very very difficult. And it’s not always easy and it doesn’t always solve all of our problems right away. And leadership — it can be something that’s really hard, that you have to work at a lot in order to feel that empowerment.”

She added, “And so, as a female showrunner in a field where you don’t see a lot of female showrunners, I related a lot to all of the characters this season; where it feels like you’re in this position of power, you are trying to rise to the occasion, a lot of people are counting on you, and you’re just really afraid that you’re gonna mess it up. And some times emotions run high. I think all of the characters are dealing with their own version of that, especially the best friend squad.”
