The latest Witcher teaser made an appearance at Netflix’s SDCC panel on Friday, featuring the fan-beloved sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg. Henry Cavill, star of the upcoming adaptation was there for the release along with creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

Originally a book series of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher is perhaps best known for its trilogy of video game adaptations with the same name. That being said, this panel made a point to tell fans that Netflix’s version of the story will more closely resemble the book’s.

Regardless of which one fans are familiar with, they both follow the same brood boy: Geralt of Rivia, the titular Witcher. Cavill, who portrays him in the show, gave says the character” has a dichotomy of being very hard on the exterior because that’s how he thinks the world is, but deep, deep down there’s this man who has a belief of what the world can be.”

Hissrich emphasized Cavill’s statement, adding that she hopes to explore each character more deeply than the games or books thanks to the extra breathing room granted by the TV format.

In the trailer itself, fans get a first look at several cast members, including Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, the mystical companion of Geralt who’s seen chatting with a dead baby, along with Freya Allan as Ciri and Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe.

Although The Witcher has no set release date yet, that can’t stop the hype. Stay tuned to The Beat as more info on the show trickles out and be sure to check out The Witcher teaser for yourself below.
