Gone, gone the form of man — The Demon will soon rise again! As a part of DC’s ongoing Next Level initiative, Etrigan will star in his own series once more, and fans are finally getting their first looks as the series.
Although The Demon was one of the first titles teased way back when Next Level was first announced, exact details were kept hidden until DC officials released more details during a wide-ranging panel at San Diego Comic-Con, including the fact James Harren is both writing and drawing it.

“The world is infested with a darkness its people cannot see. Beasts from Hell feast on humanity’s soul, sucking it dry and leaving nothing but a shell behind,” DC says of the series.
The company adds, “Only one person can see these monsters and cast them back to Hell: Jason Blood! But he is a shadow of the man he once was, wandering the world following the face of a wizard long gone and hearing a voice in his head demanding to be let out. How can Jason Blood help protect the world from demons when he himself is not sure how to work with the one bound to his soul? Will the Demon Etrigan ever rise again?”

Harren, of course, is best known for his breakout Image Comics hit Ultramega, though the creator also has credits on a handful of issues of Dark Horse’s BPRD: Hell on Earth. Joining him are colorist Dave Stewart and letterer Clayton Cowles.
The Demon #1 is set to hit the shelves at your local comic shop on October 7.
