The Beat crew kicked off preview night of San Diego Comic-Con 2026 by playing Nintendo Switch 2’s Splatoon Raiders and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort ahead of official release dates.

Guests got the chance to try the treasure-hunting action-adventure Splatoon Raiders before its release on July 23, as well as the recently announced Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for the Nintendo Switch 2 system ahead of its October 22 debut.

Splatoon Raiders

Both games were tons of fun. Controls and gameplay were smooth and easy to navigate, especially in Splatoon Raiders, where players could bop around, conquering raids, gathering tons of treasure, and painting the levels with tons of colorful ink.

As for Switch Sports Resort, players demoed four of the twelve options: bowling, archery, jet ski racing, and thumb wrestling (my favorite). It took a minute to orient to how the controllers switch for each sport, but the screen offers easy-to-follow instructions. And once you’re set–easy and fun for the whole family.

Overall, a super fun way to kick off this year’s big show! If you’re here in San Diego, make sure to stop by the Hilton Bayfront and main exhibit floor to try the games for yourself.
