Good news! Comic-Con International is not leaving San Diego anytime soon.
In a press conference today outside Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center, Mayor Todd Gloria announced an agreement between Comic-Con International, the Convention Center, and other tourism and hospitality partners to keep the convention in San Diego through 2030.
The San Diego Convention Center shared a video of the announcement—which also features an adorably-dressed dog in a Minion costume—on its official X and Instagram accounts.
“I thought you might like that,” Gloria said following cheers and applause at the announcement. “That is of course fantastic news for fans, for local businesses, for the thousands of people who work in our tourism and hospitality industries to support this event, and for anyone who believes that Comic-Con belongs in the city where it all began.”
San Diego Comic-Con was founded in 1970 and has since grown to be the largest pop culture convention in the world.
