On Friday at its “Doing Comics Differently: Ignition Press Year One and Beyond” panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Ignition Press announced a new series featuring everyone’s favorite seasonal yard decor: 12-Foot Skeleton.
Co-written by Tim Seeley and Aaron Campbell with art by Ben Templesmith and letters by AndWorld Design, 12-Foot Skeleton is described as “a Halloween story with the heart and soul of a classic Spielberg film” mixed with an ’80s slasher flick. Here’s the synopsis:
This might be Lola and Jimmy’s last Halloween. Not because they’re aging out at 12-years-old…there’s a12-foot-tall lawn skeleton on a rampage in their neighborhood!
Lola is a triple threat of social suicide: goth girl, new kid, and outspoken feminist. Meanwhile, Jimmy is a bookish, quiet, bullied kid trying to enjoy his favorite holiday between cancer treatments.
When Lola discovers she might have a much stronger connection with the malevolent force inhabiting the skeleton than she could ever imagine possible, it’s up to Jimmy to inspire them to face certain danger and embrace the future rather than run from their traumatic pasts.
Issue #1 will feature two open-to-order covers by Templesmith and Campbell, with a 1:10 retailer incentive cover by Seeley. Check out all three below.
“Halloween is my favorite holiday, and it’s only gotten better with the rise of giant plastic lawn monsters,” said Seeley. “So of course I had to celebrate that with Aaron, Ben and a murderous decoration that punishes those who don’t show the proper spirit.”
“Childhood trauma and giant plastic skeletons—this is the apotheosis of Halloween,” added Campbell.
“It’s Halloween and drawing so, so many skulls, while working with friends, there was no possible way I could refuse working on this!” said Templesmith.
“The best horror taps into real fear,” said Editor-in-Chief Jamie S. Rich. “The thing that Aaron Campbell and Tim Seeley remember is how scary everything is as a kid, how much shadows in the night can inspire terror. And also how magical Halloween can be. In 12-Foot Skeleton, they’ve found a way to combine those things that is truly exciting. Ben Templesmith sprinkles some goblin dust on top, and the whole comic comes alive.”
12-Foot Skeleton #1 will be available digitally and at your local comic shop on October 14, with pre-orders due on Monday, September 7.
